Principal's Bio

Mr. Kenton Evans

Mr. Kenton Evans

Born and raised in Jackson-Madison County, I grew up in South Jackson, where I graduated from South Side High School in 2010. From there, I attended Union University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in History and a minor in Education in 2014. I began my educational career at North Parkway Middle School, where I served for six years as a 7th grade social studies teacher, teacher learning coach, head softball coach, and assistant football coach. During my time at North Parkway, I developed an additional passion for educational leadership. I pursued and graduated with my Masters in Instructional Leadership from Union University in July 2021. That same year, I began my two-year service as an assistant principal at Thelma Barker Elementary School. It’s great to be coming back full circle to the community I first served and have a strong passion and love for. Even though I am now a school administrator, I will always be a teacher at heart. Every decision that my staff and I make at AES will be in the best interests of our wonderful students.

Outside my educational career, I am a lucky husband of 10 years to my beautiful wife Bethany and proud father of my amazing son Elijah and daughter Charlotte.
